Ocean Red is an organisation that helps teenagers to feel good about themselves.
Ocean Red brings you fantastic unique products as well as other well being goods and services which will help you to manage your own wellbeing and thus enable you to self care and thus feel good about yourself.
We live in an increasingly difficult world, which is sometimes difficult to navigate and sadly it is all to easy to fall prey to blaming ourselves for situations which we feel we are not able to control.
We are also under increasing pressure to continuously be positive, and happy even though inside we do not feel like this at all.
Ocean Red is all about being OK about being ourselves. #LivingtobeMe
By understanding that all our emotions are normal and acceptable, we can then become responsible for our own well being, and with the right tools we can begin to manage and control our emotional health bringing about a well balanced and confident self.
It is OK to be sad, or frustrated, or annoyed, or disappointed, or ashamed, or embarrassed, or angry, or peeved off, or in fact any negative emotion. This is all part of being human, and we are all human. Where the problems arise, is if we try to suppress these feelings, or don't acknowledge them, or feel that we should not have them. We then enter a loop, where we start to blame ourselves for having these feelings and thus we add guilt and blame onto them, and a spiral of emotional illness begins. We want to avoid this spiral and acknowledge that it is OK to have these negative emotions - they just do not have to rule us and our products and services are designed to support and help you to manage these emotions.
We believe that the ocean is representative of human nature and our emotions. It can be incredibly calm on the surface, but in turmoil underneath, it may be raging, it may be full tide or simply lapping on the shore. It can be green, or blue or even grey. It can at times be breathtakingly beautiful and at others rough and ugly. It can have deep blue skies, or brooding dark clouds. The sea is full of mystery, and incredible creatures. The ocean is vital in all parts of life and a healthy ocean leads to a healthy humanity. It has inspired poets and writers across the ages and is the place of myths and legends. It is forever moving and changing and yet at the same time the waves continue to roll, never stopping, not even for a second. We have chosen the Ocean to be emblematic for this trying period of young peoples lives, it is a meaningful metaphor which we can all relate to.
To this end all of our products reflect the oceans and the sea, the beach and the sunshine. They are all ethically sourced, made from environmentally friendly materials, and, if possible, provide work on a community based manner. We want you to wear our products with pride and as we also believe that if we do good we will feel good #dogoodfeelgood we give you the opportunity to help other teenagers in less fortunate parts of the world through the Ocean Red Foundation when you check out your product.
We believe that there is either fear or love.
When we live our life from a place of fear, we are not true to ourselves and we stop living an authentic life and we suffer. If we begin to live our lives from a place of love, then we are in harmony and all good comes to us.
An anchor is not only 'a heavy metal object with curved barbed arms attached by a chain to a ship or boat used to moor the vessel to the ocean floor.'
It is also 'something which provides stability or confidence in an otherwise uncertain situation'.
The anchor is one of the most universal objects. It has been used throughout the world, and for all of history. The invention, very similar to the one we use now, but with only one arm (originally called 'teeth') has been attributed to King Midas of Phrygia. The two armed anchor called ankura and from which we have the name, was used by the Ancient Greeks in 400 B.C. Since then, in various forms, it has been securing vessels both small and large, protecting them them from the wild and unpredictable environment.
And metaphorically, the anchor has been used as a symbol of steadfastness since the early Romans. In literature, art and poetry the Anchor has been used to ensure that we 'hold fast' during emotional, unstable and confusing times and we can remain steadfast during our weakest and most trying experiences. No matter how chaotic the emotions that are tossing themselves around us, we maintain stability, firmness and tranquility.
And with this we can rise to our own personal expression, rise to 'Be Me', supported by our emotions, uniqueness, knowledge and intuition.
And this is why Ocean Red has an anchor in its logo. To remind us that at all times we need to be anchored. We need to be rooted to the earth. We are connected and part of the universe, and when we are not securely tethered we are without the firm foundation on which to grow, and flourish. We need to be stable, to be free.
And the wings?
Well we all need wings to fly....
